Key Features
Display
The Active 2 uses an AMOLED panel — a display technology that produces deep blacks by switching individual pixels off entirely, resulting in vivid contrast and accurate colours. Compared to LCD screens common at this price point, AMOLED delivers a noticeably richer, more premium viewing experience, particularly for always-on watch faces and health data glances.
At 466 × 466 pixels packed into a 1.32" round screen, the pixel density is sharp enough that text, maps, and metrics all appear crisp and clear. The 60Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling through menus and workout data. The standout specification is the 2,000-nit peak brightness — a level typically reserved for flagship smartwatches — which makes the screen genuinely readable even in direct, harsh sunlight where most competing displays in this segment wash out.
Regarding glass protection, the two variants differ meaningfully. The Standard version uses tempered glass with an anti-fingerprint coating — durable for everyday use and resistant to minor scratches. The Premium version upgrades to sapphire crystal glass, one of the hardest materials used in watchmaking (rated 9 on the Mohs scale), which offers significantly better resistance to deep scratches from keys, gravel, and daily wear. For buyers who are hard on their gear or simply want long-term screen clarity, the sapphire glass is a meaningful practical upgrade beyond the aesthetic difference.

Water Resistance
The Active 2 carries a 5 ATM water resistance rating, meaning it can withstand pressure equivalent to 50 metres of static water depth. In practical terms this means the watch is fully safe for swimming — both pool sessions and open water — as well as showering, rain, and sweaty workouts. The swim tracking mode is purpose-built for this, with the barometer also making it suitable for tracking water sports where depth or altitude changes are relevant, such as skiing or surfing.
5 ATM is a meaningful step up from the IP68 rating found on many competing devices. While IP68 covers submersion up to a manufacturer-specified depth (typically 1–1.5 metres), 5 ATM is a standardised water pressure test that better reflects real-world dynamic water activities. The one caveat is that 5 ATM is not rated for scuba diving or high-pressure water jets — for those activities, you would need a 10 ATM or higher rated device. For the vast majority of everyday water activities, the Active 2's rating is more than sufficient.
iOS & Android Compatibility
The Active 2 pairs seamlessly with both Android (7.0 and above) and iOS (14.0 and above) via Bluetooth 5.2. The free Zepp App is the central hub for syncing health data, downloading offline maps and watch faces, managing Zepp Coach training plans, and configuring notifications. It is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The core feature set is fully available on both platforms — health tracking, GPS workouts, Zepp Coach plans, offline maps, and Bluetooth calling all work on iPhone and Android alike. There is one meaningful difference: message replies via Zepp Flow (speech-to-text or QWERTY keyboard) are available on Android only, as iOS restricts third-party apps from sending iMessage and SMS replies. iPhone users can still receive and read notifications on the watch, but cannot reply from the wrist.
Beyond the Zepp App, workout data syncs to a wide range of third-party platforms: Strava, adidas Running, TrainingPeaks (via Terra), Komoot, Relive, Google Fit, and Apple Health — making it straightforward to integrate the Active 2 into whatever fitness ecosystem you are already using, regardless of your phone.
Health & Wellness Suite
The BioTracker 6.0 PPG sensor is the centrepiece of the Active 2's health system — a 5-photodiode, dual-LED configuration that collects significantly more biometric data per reading than single-LED sensors found in similarly priced devices. The PulsePrecision™ algorithm pushes heart rate accuracy to Amazfit T-Rex 3 levels, while RestoreIQ™ brings meaningful improvements to sleep stage classification, including reliable REM detection and daytime nap tracking.
The daily Readiness Score aggregates your heart rate variability, sleep quality, stress levels, and activity load into a single actionable number — telling you each morning whether you're in shape for a hard session or need a recovery day. This is a feature more commonly found on premium training watches costing significantly more.
Women's health is addressed with built-in cycle tracking plus deep integration with Wild.AI, which provides exercise, diet, and recovery recommendations tailored to menstrual and hormonal phases — accessible directly from the watch via the Wild.AI mini app.
All data is managed through the free Zepp App (Android 7.0+ / iOS 14.0+), which also syncs to Strava, adidas Running, TrainingPeaks (via Terra), Komoot, Relive, Google Fit, and Apple Health.

Verdict
The Amazfit Active 2 delivers an exceptional collection of features for its price — a 2,000-nit AMOLED display, flagship-grade BioTracker 6.0 sensor, built-in GPS with free offline maps, barometer, and Zepp Coach AI training plans are genuinely hard to match in this segment. The small 1.32" round screen and barometer reliability are the main trade-offs to weigh. Choose the Active 2 for the best sensor and display hardware at this price. Consider the Bip 6 if you prefer a larger display and longer battery over the barometer and temperature sensor.
