Unlike raw sleep or HRV numbers, Energy Score interprets the data in plain language, making it genuinely accessible for non-athlete users. The feature requires a Samsung Health account and a compatible Galaxy smartphone (Android 11 or above). For cyclists and runners, Galaxy AI can also estimate Functional Threshold Power (FTP) — the power output you can sustain for an hour — directly from heart rate data collected during rides when paired with a power meter, enabling training zone calibration without a separate lab test. All Galaxy AI features improve personalisation over time as the system learns from your data patterns.

The Galaxy Watch 7 debuts Samsung's Exynos W1000 — the world's first 3-nanometre smartwatch processor — a generational leap over the 5nm Exynos W930 in the Watch 6. The W1000 is a penta-core CPU (two high-performance cores running at 1.6GHz, two efficiency cores at 1.5GHz, and one ultra-low power core) paired with a Mali-G68 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. In practical use, this translates to snappier app launches, smoother workout tracking UI, faster GPS lock acquisition, and significantly more headroom for running Galaxy AI algorithms locally on the device. The 3nm fabrication process not only boosts performance but also dramatically improves power efficiency compared to older 5nm chips — helping offset the relatively modest 425mAh battery to deliver competitive all-day battery life despite the more demanding AI and sensor workloads. With 32GB of internal storage (doubled from the Watch 6's 16GB), there is ample space for Spotify offline playlists, downloaded workout routines, Wear OS apps, and Samsung Health data caching.

The Galaxy Watch 7 is the first standard Galaxy Watch (non-Ultra) to feature dual-frequency GPS using both L1 and L5 satellite bands across GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo systems. L5 is a newer, more precise frequency that dramatically reduces multipath error — the satellite signal distortion caused by reflections off buildings, tree canopy, and terrain. In practical terms, this means significantly more accurate route maps for outdoor runners and cyclists in urban environments like Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore where tall buildings and dense tree cover regularly cause L1-only GPS to drift. The Galaxy Watch 7 builds on the Watch 6's Sleep Coaching programme with new hardware and AI capabilities. The 13-LED BioActive sensor enables more precise overnight SpO₂ tracking and skin temperature monitoring, which are key inputs for detecting breathing irregularities during sleep. The standout addition is Sleep Apnea detection — a feature that analyses breathing patterns, blood oxygen drops, and heart rate irregularities over two nights of monitoring to flag signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. Users with a positive signal are encouraged to seek clinical diagnosis. Sleep Apnea detection has received regulatory clearance as a software medical device in multiple markets and is available in India. The underlying Sleep Coaching programme identifies the user's chronotype (natural sleep tendency), analyses sleep consistency over weeks, and delivers a personalised improvement plan including guidance on sleep environment, bedtime routines, and lifestyle factors. All sleep data feeds into the Energy Score calculation the following morning.

The Galaxy Watch 7 introduces Samsung's most advanced BioActive sensor to date — featuring 13 LEDs compared to the Watch 6's configuration — enabling higher precision heart rate, SpO₂, and body composition measurements. The additional LEDs provide better skin contact coverage across different wrist types, reducing the measurement variance that affected earlier models. The sensor integrates optical heart rate, ECG, and BIA (bioelectrical impedance analysis) in a single hardware package. ECG enables single-lead cardiac rhythm reading for AFib detection, with results exportable via the Samsung Health Monitor app as a PDF for healthcare review. The Galaxy Watch 7 is certified to MIL-STD-810H — the US military durability standard covering extreme temperatures (tested from -20°C to 55°C), altitude up to 9,000 metres, drop shock, vibration, and humidity — making it the most durability-tested standard Galaxy Watch Samsung has produced. The build uses Armor Aluminum 2 — a proprietary aluminium alloy with improved scratch and impact resistance compared to standard 7000-series aluminium. The Sapphire Crystal display protection is retained from the Watch 6.
